PPNS preschool is a Kailua based program for children ages 3 through 5. This little green school is a private, non-profit group managed by the parents of children who attend the school. Parents volunteers collaborate with our administrative staff and teachers to make PPNS a wonderful preschool experience for all. This community environment leads to long-lasting friendships and a support network which is always a benefit to parents of young children!
PPNS preschool is licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) to care for up to 30 children daily. The school abides by DHS licensing requirements in order to function safely and effectively.
School Philosophy
The PPNS philosophy comes from people who have made important contributions to the field of educational psychology, including Piaget, Adler, Dreikurs, Rogers, Holt, Montessori, and Sylvia Ashton-Warner. These experts share a basic respect for the individual and a belief that children learn best by making their own discoveries.
Our center provides hands-on, play-based learning through intentional and thoughtful teaching that creates opportunities for children to develop a sense of the world through inquiry, exploration, interaction, and problem solving supported by a blended emergent curriculum that combines the Hawaii Early Learning and Developmental standards, Creative Curriculum and NAEYC accreditation standards.
We believe in focusing on the Social-Emotional development of that age group preferring indirect adult guidance that allows children to find their own resolving solutions.
