Parent Participation

Parent Involvement at PPNS Preschool

At PPNS Preschool, parent involvement is the foundation of our community, creating a unique and rewarding experience for both children and parents. This active participation not only fosters strong relationships but also helps keep tuition affordable. Parents work collaboratively to support and enhance the school, ensuring benefits for current and future families.

How Parents Participate

  • Participation Shifts: Parents or a family representative (e.g., grandparent, aunt, uncle) spend two days per month assisting teachers and performing light cleaning tasks. Children love these days, enjoying the chance to introduce their new friends and favorite toys. For children attending on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule, only one shift per month is required.
  • Committee Work: Quarterly involvement in a committee helps with school operations and maintenance. Committees may focus on areas such as media relations, indoor/outdoor upkeep, and other essential functions.
  • Fundraising: Participation in 1-2 events per year helps raise additional funds to support the school.
  • Work Parties: Twice annually, parents participate in DIY projects during fall and spring meetups, with each session requiring around four hours per family.
  • Membership Meetings: Held at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of August, January, and April, these meetings provide an opportunity for parents to connect with teachers and board members, discuss school events, and share ideas for improvement.

About Participation Shifts

  • Shift Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (please confirm with teachers before leaving).
  • Shift Exchanges: If unable to attend your assigned shift, it’s your responsibility to arrange for an approved substitute via the PPNS email list or community app. Any changes must be noted on the master calendar by the school administrator.
  • Illness or Absence: If you are ill, please refrain from attending to ensure the health of others. In case of an emergency or illness on your participation day, email the school administrator before 8 a.m. and find a substitute. If a replacement can’t be found, you must make up your shift within two weeks.
